Feeding Birds

With the cafe located in the Colleges Crossing Recreation Area it means that we have to co-exist with 50 species of fauna. This adds to the special outdoor atmosphere of Colleges by the River. But some birds are wanting to join in the feeding fun. This can be aggravated by people feeding food morsels to birds. We are determined to discourage this practice as some birds like kookaburras are becoming adept at swooping on plates of food. Just this week, one kookaburra dive bombed a big breakfast being delivered to a customer. Some customers have had close calls with birds stealing food being lifted between plate and mouth. We have signs warning against feeding birds. Relax and enjoy your meal - but, be aware there may be a feathered thief lurking in a nearby tree.
