The regular morning duck parade at the cafe - led by Daisy, has been boosted by a group of lorikeets. We've always had a lot of birds. Those who remember the corellas when the cafe first opened will support that. Those were the days - scores of corellas camped in the big tree on the deck. It was a case of looking up before you sat down. You had to know where the birds were for obvious reasons. The corellas left their mark on just about everyone! Or shade sails put an end to the sudden surpises. But there are still plenty of birds - kookaburras, owls, butcher birds, magpies, and lorikeets. Sharing the space with them is part of the joy of having an aussie alfresco cafe.
The river is still on the run following the rain of recent weeks. A gate has also been opened at Wivenhoe and we should see the results of that tomorrow (Tuesday). Its not expected to cause the bridge at Colleges Crossing to go under - but we will wait and see.
